Actress Angelina Jolie wants to shock audiences with her upcoming portrayal of Cleopatra in a new film because she wants to change the Egyptian pharaoh's reputation as a sex symbol.

The 35-year-old will play the lead in David Fincher's version of the story, which is set for release in 2013 on the 50th anniversary of the original flick starring Elizabeth Taylor.

And the Hollywood star says her take on Cleopatra will be a lot less glamorous than Elizabeth's portrayal.

She told British Stella magazine: "I thought it was just all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader.

"My performance will never be as lovely as Elizabeth's. We are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not as a sex symbol, because she really wasn't."

The Tourist star added: "Even this idea of her having many lovers - it was possible that it was only two. She is very interesting, but she wasn’t a great beauty."

Actress Jennifer Lawrence refused to overdo her workout routine to slim down and shape up for her near-naked role in X-Men: First Class - because she wanted to maintain her curves and "look like a woman".


The Winter's Bone star, 20, plays Mystique in the upcoming comic book movie and had to be almost completely nude, so she could be sprayed head to toe in blue body paint for the part.

Lawrence decided against embarking on a super-strict diet and exercise plan to prepare for the revealing role and only agreed to submit to a light training regimen and high-protein food plan, allowing her to simply sculpt her figure.

She tells Elle magazine, "I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy. I'm so sick of people thinking that's what we're supposed to look like."

She’s been doing the rounds in a series of glossy magazines since being named the Hottest Woman on Earth by Maxim, but Rosie Huntington-Whitely wasn’t always so popular.

The model-turned actress has opened up about her battle with former school ground bullies, who would call her ‘kipper lips’ and ‘t**t lips’.

The 24-year-old revealed the taunts while stripping down to a sheer deep red gown and bikini bottoms for the July issue of GQ magazine.

It’s not the first time Rosie has posed for the magazine, but this time she admitted: ‘I was teased about the way I looked at school.’

While being photographed topless with her arm covering her modesty, she said: ‘I got teased because of my lips.

‘I used to get called T**t lips – because I had big lips but no breasts. And then I was called Kipper Lips.

‘There was a big group of girls that was Devon’s answer to Mean Girls, and they would storm the bathrooms shouting, ‘I’m going to f****ing deck you, Lips! See you on the school bus’.

‘And boys didn’t really go out with me.’

Despite the grim portrayal of her childhood, the Tavistock-born beauty did say she had fun with friends too.

‘We’d hang around in soggy jeans drinking cider. I did long for the city. But I was a very outdoorsy kid.

‘Until I was 15, riding was my thing – I was horse-obsessed.’

But her whole life suddenly changed when she was 17 and started a summer internship in the back room of a modelling agency.

The Victoria’s Secret angel soon caught the attention of agency bosses, who turned her into a model.

‘I was shocked. I used to see all these supermodels walking into the agency – tall, elegant glamazons. I was just a big lump from Devon.

‘But within a year I was travelling to America, being booked for French Connection, Tommy Hillfiger, Abercrombie & Fitch. I started to make serious money.

‘Suddenly school didn’t seem quite so important.’

Since her big break, Rosie’s modelling career has sky-rocketed and seven years later, she has transformed into an actress for Michael Bay’s latest film.

She replaced Megan Fox in Transformers: Dark of the Moon, out next month, and plays Shia LaBeouf’s girlfriend in the film.

The modest star says that although she doesn’t think she’ll become the next Meryl Streep, she’s willing to work hard for a shot to make it big in Hollywood.

‘Would I like even a sniff of Angelina Jolie’s career? Yes.  Do I think I have a future in this business? I certainly hope so. And I’m going to work damn hard to make sure I do,’ she said.

Rosie, who currently dates Jason Statham, added: ‘I’m not standing here and saying I’m an amazing actress or that I’ve had a heap of thespie training. But you’re damned if you do and you’re damned if you don’t.’

The July issue of GQ is out next Thursday and GQ has exclusive footage of Rosie on its new i Pad app out in June.

"When I started modelling, I was definitely heavier. I was quite voluptuous in fact. I had a real baby face and baby fat. But I was a baby! I was told I had to get into better shape, but I'm quite stubborn so I didn't. I can't remember a time where I really battled with my body, but I can remember being asked to lose weight and battling with the advice. It hurt me, especially as my baby fat naturally melted away as I got older. You can bullied as a young model, but there was a point where I found my voice, effectively."

We say good on Rosie for now bowing to the pressure to shift the pounds when she didn’t need to anyway.

Hollywood Actress Liv Tyler is Taking Cloths Off Again For New Movie

Now that sexy actress Liv Tyler is a mom, she hasn't done a sex scene in 15 years. But in her new movie, she's taking it all off all over again.


The last time actress Liv Tyler got naked for the cameras was 15 years ago in Stealing Beauty. The scene caused such a sensation that she didn't do another nude scene. Until now.

This summer, American Idol judge Steven Tyler's daughter strips down all over again in the upcoming movie, The Ledge, a "philosophical thriller" co-starring Patrick Wilson and directed by Bernardo Bertolucci.

"I was like, 'No way, sorry,'" Tyler, 33, said at first to the prospect of acting naked again. "Of course the thought of showing your body parts is a terrifying thought -- I find it terrifying. Let alone the whole world. And I fought it until the very end."

Eventually, though, Tyler gave up and gave in to Bertolucci's direction. The movie involves a man who has an affair with a woman, played by Tyler, who's married to a devout Christian, played by Wilson. After their torrid tryst, he finds himself on a ledge and is forced to make a life or death decision.

Tyler was married to British musician Royston Langdon of the band Spacehog in 2003, but the pair later split. They have one child together, Milo, 6.

For a time, Tyler was in talks to star in another sexy movie, this one about Bettie Page. The biopic on the legendary pinup model was to be directed by Martin Scorsese. Eventually, the project fell apart, and Gretchen Mol ended up starring in another version of the same story, The Notorious Bettie Page.

New Pirates of the Caribbean Film Turns Tide on Franchise

Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tidesrecently made port in movie theaters nationwide and, suffice to say, the franchise has seen smoother sailing.

The latest installment in the Pirates series sees Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp, Rango) hunting down the fabled fountain of youth. It's soon revealed that Sparrow isn't the only one setting course for the fountain; enter the legendary Captain Blackbeard (Ian McShane, The Sorcerer's Apprentice) and the film's biggest let down of a character.

Through eerily told legends and the palpable shock each character exhibits at the mere mention of Blackbeard's name, anyone watching On Stranger Tides will have a fairly intimidating vision of the famed pirate before he even makes his on-screen debut. When he finally does, it's a horrendous upset. Blackbeard is neither frightening nor brutal. In fact, he's almost likable. It needs to be said that this comes at no fault of McShane. The character as a whole is actually a reflection of the film's biggest problem – the writing.

            The script attempts to capture the witty and light hearted dialogue of the earlier installments but never achieves full mast. The jokes only register a few hearty chuckles throughout and the conversations are drier than a marooned pirate ship.

The writers also hoped to make up for the absence of the Orlando Bloom and Kiera Knightly love story by sloppily tacking on a new one. This time around the love focus is on the devout Christian Philip (Sam Clafin, United) and his mermaid crush Syrena (Astrid Bergès-Frisbey, The Well Digger's Daughter), but both characters are so underdeveloped that the blooming love between them is about as interesting to watch as an anchor rusting.

Shockingly enough, even Depp fails to deliver as the iconic Jack Sparrow. He doesn't do such a terrible job that he deserves to walk the plank over it, but the original spark that came from watching his eccentric portrayal has been extinguished. Watching him on screen you can't help but get the sense that he's almost as tired of playing the role as most are of watching it.

Still, the movie isn't all bad and On Stranger Tides isn't without a few buried treasures.

The action sequences throughout the film are exciting enough, especially a particularly well executed mermaid attack scene that will have you avoiding open water like you had just seen Jaws for the first time, or some strange demented version of Splash.

            At times, though, the adventurous antics from Sparrow & co. can be overly choreographed and be more representative of a dance than actual combat. While escaping from London, for instance, Sparrow pulls off some fancy footwork and is able to elude his captors in a daring feat of swinging from a chandelier. Apart from being a rather cliché bit of filmmaking, this scene is just downright awful. Approximately 20 armed guards merely watch, dumbfounded, as Sparrow escapes when a single musket shot could've put him down.

The best part of the film is the return of the infamous Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush, The Warrior's Way) who's given up his rum swiggin' days in exchange for tea sipping by joining the British navy. From beginning to end, Barbossa maintains an air of mystery about him that viewers can't quite put their finger on. Not to mention the man now sports a peg leg in true pirate fashion.

After the cannon smoke has cleared and the credits roll, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides manages to pass itself off as an OK movie at best. Its mindless action scenes and special effects manage to keep viewers entertained, but the shoddy writing keeps it from ever truly grabbing the audience. If there is any sign of a new Pirates of the Caribbean on the horizon, it might be best to tie up the writers and toss them over board before setting sail, savvy?

Shortly after her anointment as Emma Frost in Fox’s “X-Men : First Class”, the internet was abuzz with rumours that January Jones would not only be donning the character’s trademark cream leather get-up but some saucy lingerie.

Today, the Hollywood Reporter published pics of Jones (“Mad Men”, “American Wedding”) in full Victoria’s Secret mode.

Jones embraced playing an iconic character as a chance to break out of the ‘60s world of the acclaimed television series “Mad Men,” in which she stars as Betty Draper. To say Jones was surprised when she read the script – set, of course, during the same period as the acclaimed series – would be an understatement. “Oh, god, you must be kidding me!” she remembers herself exclaiming. But Jones quickly realized that Emma was a far cry from Betty. “I am really excited about being part of this incredible world of X-Men,” she says. “It is something very new for me to combine all the physical challenges the role offers, as well as the dramatic aspects. Emma is technically a villain, but I think her motives are genuine and from the heart. She thinks she is doing what is best for her race and will do whatever it takes to keep mutants alive and form a stronger species.”

The fact that the comics’ incarnation of Emma features impressive cleavage – and little else – didn’t faze Jones, who was delighted to wear the outfits costume designer Sammy Sheldon created for her. “In the comics, Emma’s clothing seems like it’s painted on,” says Jones with a laugh, “but Sammy has done an amazing job making the costumes true to character but also something I can move around in.” Adds Sheldon: “We wanted to give Emma a period ‘coolness,’ and at various times she wears a bikini, a funky cape, a cat suit, crystal underwear, and thigh-length boots that attach to her clothing.”

I hear “X-Men : First Class” is quite good – I, of course, being so ill of late haven’t been able to attend a screening but really keen to hear your thoughts on the film y’all…
