Actress Angelina Jolie wants to shock audiences with her upcoming portrayal of Cleopatra in a new film because she wants to change the Egyptian pharaoh's reputation as a sex symbol.

The 35-year-old will play the lead in David Fincher's version of the story, which is set for release in 2013 on the 50th anniversary of the original flick starring Elizabeth Taylor.

And the Hollywood star says her take on Cleopatra will be a lot less glamorous than Elizabeth's portrayal.

She told British Stella magazine: "I thought it was just all about the glamour, but then I read about her and she was a very strong mother, she spoke five languages and she was a leader.

"My performance will never be as lovely as Elizabeth's. We are trying to get into a different truth about her as a pharaoh in history and not as a sex symbol, because she really wasn't."

The Tourist star added: "Even this idea of her having many lovers - it was possible that it was only two. She is very interesting, but she wasn’t a great beauty."

Kung Fu Panda 2: Hollywood works harder to win Chinese audiences

A decade ago, as China closed in on membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO), key negotiators now say, it wasn't talk of opening a huge market to grain or machinery that threatened talks: It was haggling over movies, the ultimate soft-power export.

Today, Chinese consumer confidence has soared. That has lifted movie ticket sales, which jumped 64 percent in 2010 to $1.5 billion, thanks partly to a 3-D craze and a mushrooming of cinemas in China. But what's also grown is official wariness of the influence of foreign media, so much so that Beijing – a WTO member since 2001 – has all but ignored a March WTO deadline to open film distribution to greater foreign participation, and has refused to discuss the annual cap of 20 imported films.

In late May, taking a page out of China's 1972 playbook – when Beijing gave two rare black-and-white bears to Washington's National Zoo after President Nixon's historic visit – envoys from DreamWorks Animation went to Sichuan Province bearing "Kung Fu Panda 2," part of DreamWorks's effort to establish a paw-hold in the globe's fastest-growing movie market. The China Film Group (CFG) released the film nationwide on May 27, dubbed into Chinese.

Their effort drew on lessons from the release of the first "Kung Fu Panda" in China right before the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Many loved it, making it the first animated feature film here to gross more than 100 million yuan ($15 million) in ticket sales. Others said DreamWorks's take on China's ancient culture fell as flat as its 2-D portrayal.

Fast-forward three years and the stakes are higher. Tickets costing as much as 120 yuan ($18.50) helped China become the No. 2 movie market after the United States for 20th Century Fox's "Avatar." After its January 2010 release, it went on to gross more than $200 million in China. Walt Disney Pictures's "Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides" recently topped the opening weekend figures for "Avatar."

Those kind of box-office numbers get the attention of US moviemakers. They ensure that the studios will increasingly take into account not only what will fly with China's middle-class audience but also with Beijing censors, who must approve every film.

Hollywood Couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie looking for on-screen reunion

Brad Pitt has revealed he wants to star alongside his long-term partner Angelina Jolie for a second time.

The Hollywood couple have already appeared together in 2005 movie Mr and Mrs Smith, where their relationship blossomed off-screen.

The 47-year-old American actor says he would like to appear opposite his actress girlfriend so that he can spend more time with her.

"We're not ones to repeat ourselves, but we'd like to, because right now, we're hopscotching with films so one can be with the kids and one's free to work," Brad told NPR. "And why aren't we doing them together? Why aren't we doing everything together?"

Brad and Angelina have six children together - Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Brad has revealed he chooses film roles based on different criteria nowadays. The hunky star has revealed that he now takes his children into consideration before confirming any projects.
"I think my focus before was more irreverence, by nature," he said."I'm a dad now. It's more important to me that if I'm going to do the film, there's something I can bring to it, it's not generic. And most of all, I'm painfully aware that my kids are going to see these when they're older, and I want them to understand something about their dad, and I want them to be proud of their dad."

Hollywood Couple Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie ‘Plan French wedding’

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are reportedly planning to get married at their newly-renovated French chateau.

The Hollywood superstars raise six children together and have been dating since 2005. Speculation about when they will tie the knot has been rife throughout their relationship and it has now been reported they will wed during the grape harvest later this year.

The couple are currently overseeing extensive work on their $60 million 35-bedroom Miraval estate in the South of France and are keen to complete soon so they can hold the nuptials there.

"The couple have been working on the property for a while now because they want to be able to host most of their wedding guests in the house and the home needed to be modernised,” a source told X17 Online.

“But all the locals are talking about how these two will be hosting their wedding here in France, at their chateau, in the fall."

The 16th century chateau boasts its own private chapel and Brad - who has a keen interest in architecture – wants to restore it with a view to making their marriage vows there.

The plans have been approved by the local government, but they are facing trouble over their use of helicopters.

The couple have been accused of using their extensive gardens as a helipad, but Brad, 47, and 35-year-old Angelina are keen to protect their privacy and believed landing inside their 880-acre estate is the only way to avoid the public spotlight.

"They want to land their helicopter on the property because this area is difficult to get to,” the source added.

“The home is on the top of a mountain and we are basically in the middle of the countryside here. People like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie don't have the time to drive here - they want to move quickly. But local government officials aren't happy with where they are currently landing their helicopter. It is in the middle of the protected gardens and the owners have been told they need to find a new landing pad."
